FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Who Are We?
The Beast Hockey Club was established by Ian Bing and Cody Fries in 2023 with a mission to create a positive environment for hockey players.
Our focus is on developing skills in skating and stick handling, while most importantly, fostering the growth of players as outstanding teammates.
What level of hockey are you?
Our program is designed for higher-proficiency skaters looking to compete at higher levels within our community-based structure. As the "travel" level of community hockey, we offer top-tier development in a team-first culture that helps players elevate their game.
When Do We Start?
We begin practices in late March or early April, depending on the team. The youngest team starts soon after the association season ends to allow more time for learning the rules of hockey, while the older teams start at the beginning of April.
How do you do tournaments?
Each year, we participate in four tournaments scheduled for April, May, August, and September. This timing gives us April to regroup and have some scrimmages before the tournament season. Three of the tournaments are local, while one is a travel tournament. We aim to have all our teams compete in the same tournaments.
Why Rotate Positions?
We believe that rotating skaters through various positions helps them gain a comprehensive understanding of hockey. This approach improves their awareness of teammates' roles during plays and highlights the importance of positional placement. Additionally, it helps players discover which position they are most comfortable with.
What are the “Camp” hours in June?
In June, we focus exclusively on skating and puck control skills through a Skills Camp format, pausing all systems development. This approach allows families to take a break from the ice in July and enjoy the summer.
